Couture Week in Paris has come to an end and I have only one question; are we worthy? I was fascinated by the many extremely creative, innovative and extraordinary collections which so many hardworking and talented artists came together to create. Diversity was still a problem on the runway with either very few or no people of colour walking. To see the full collections click on the designer's name.
This year marks Ralph & Russo's 10 year anniversary since it's founding and they have started this monumental year with an extravagant Couture collection. The collection featured an array of flowers, beads, and pearls which were featured in a range of dresses. The bridal gown which was worn by Alessandra Ambrosio was magnificent, she looked like an angel walking amongst mortals! The collection as a whole was charming and I can already imagine that this collection will be donned on several red carpets.
Unlike other fashion houses Julien Fournié used numerous bold colours in his Couture collection. His designs were sexy and daring rather then soft and elegant.
This was Maria Grazia Chiuri's first collection as creative director for Christian Dior. The set for this Haute Couture show was magical, it made you feel like you were sitting in the Garden of Eden gazing at angels walk. The collection was soft and feminine, it made you fantasise about the feeling you would get from wearing one of the looks.
Legend. That was Guo Pei's theme and inspiration for this marvellous collection. After seeing the photos; which surely do not do these unique creations justice I arrived at the theory that Guo Pei herself is a legend. This Couture collection was everything and more. It was art. Guo Pei even had 85 year old Carmen Dell’Orefice close the show! This collection will forever remain ICONIC.
I have only praise for Alexis Mabille, yet another outstanding collection. Alexis Mabille used tulle in a very unique and artistic way. Each outfit was different yet they all had an element which made the collection seem so whole and gracious. Whether it was the similar headpieces or the flowing veils or simply the different ways Mabille used tulle.
Georges Hobeika
Georges Hobeika's Couture collection was simple yet complex. The intricate details which were engraved into each look only added to the very graceful and elegant vibe this collection gave. The Bridal Gown was superb, it was different to the typical bridal looks but it was incredible!

Elie Saab never disappoints, especially when it comes to Couture collections. He makes even the simplest of designs look complex and in the end he produces a majestic, jaw dropping collection. If you lucky enough to wear an outfit from this extremely gorgeous collection then please tell me how you feel! I can only imagine.
For this Couture Collection Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren pulled apart dresses from '40s onwards and combined them to make a completely new look. These two designers never fail to surprise me with their creativity and imagination. I cannot wait to see what else they have in store for us this year! Bravo.
Valentino delivered yet another beguiling Couture collection. It was simple yet breathtaking. I was excited to see what Pierpaolo Piccioli's was going to produce for his first collection being the sole creative director. I am happy to say I wasn't let down, his vision for this collection was similar to Guo Pei's. Legends & Greek mythology. It was nice to see the different approaches Guo Pei & Pierpaolo Piccioli had to this theme, and they were both very, very marvellous.
Zuhair Murad shows us once again why he is one of the greatest. He used vivid and lively colours rather than the pastel and soft colours which had appeared in majority of shows during the week. This collection provided us with some very unique and stunning red carpet and after party looks!
Couture Week was very, very good to us this year. It made me dream, gasp and nearly cry at a certain stage. That's what happens when you see something as beautiful as Elie Saab's collection. It was a tremendous insight and beginning to what fashion has in store for us this year.
