VICTORIA'S SECRET FASHION SHOW 2016 REVIEW

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is one of the most renowned events in the fashion industry. After last year's somewhat disappointing show my expectations were not exceedingly high going into this year's show and although it was not the most extravagant show, it was by far better than last years. Here is my breakdown of this year's show with the best and worst looks.
THE ROAD AHEAD
The Road Ahead was definitely not one of the best segments that VS has produced, and it was not one that will be remembered all too well. Majority of the looks were chaotic but there was the odd element which kept them from total failure. However, the complete segment minus the few eccentric looks made a great show opener as it was full of life & vibrant colours. 


Maria Borges never fails to astound me with her radiating beauty. This outfit looked gorgeous on her and suited her immensely! Any other model and this look would not have been delivered with the same grace and charm.
Although the whole world was talking about the one and only Adriana Lima being able to pull off some of the most hideous looks this was one that could not be saved. This was possibly the worst outfit to ever come out of Victoria Secret and they made the ICONIC veteran angel Adriana Lima wear it instead of handing it to a newcomer. How Victorias Secret perceived that this look would uphold their image of sexy is confusing.
Lui Wen 
This look was breathtaking and my favourite look of the entire show. It was so beautiful and delicate, the intricate designs on the skirt really enhanced the entire look and the headpiece completed the outfit! Barbara Fialho did an amazing job selling this outfit and making it look sexy yet elegant. 

Now this is what we want to see an angel wearing!! Alessandra made this outfit look more alluring than ever. The wings were delicate and complimented effortlessly the blue in the lingerie.

MOUNTAIN ROMANCE
Mountain Romance was another disappointing segment, although the outfits were not as disorientated as The Road Ahead. Lady Gaga gave a beautiful performance despite her absurd poses, however, at times I thought the pace was too slow for a segment like Mountain Romance.

At first glance I wasn't quite fond of this outfit, the boots and sleeves stirred me away from the thought of liking it. However, the more I look at it, the more it grows on me. The patterns on the outfit compliment each other beautifully and the wings just complete it. Props to Sui He for delivering an amazing, graceful walk in this outfit.  
Romee Strijd
PINK NATION
Pink Nation was yet another poor segment. All the looks were messy and I had to nitpick to find components I actually liked. It was the models that made this year's Pink segment so lively as well as the impressive performance by Bruno Mars.  

This was the only look in PINK that I didn't mind. The wings were beautiful and Grace Elizabeth stunned the runway in this outfit.

While the outfits above were not my favourite the models most definitely were. They brought an amazing vibe to the PINK segment and I hope to see them back next year hopefully featuring in the main segments. 

SECRET ANGEL
After three very substandard segments, one finally delivered. Secret Angel was a beautifully constructed segment and it helped that the models were walking to a song which suited its theme. 

Adriana Lima looked stunning in this outfit although the outfit itself wasn't entirely great. Lose the brown 'skirt' and the outfit would've looked great! Adriana killed the opening and set up the segment to be, what the
brand is known to be, sexy. 
Irina Shayk
This outfit was stunning, it was silky and delicate, everything about it looked beautiful! Bella Hadid had a great walk and she brought this outfit to life.
These looks worn by Sara Sampaio and Cindy Bruna were INCREDIBLE. The wings are definitely some of the most beautiful wings which have graced the VS runway. Inspired by a smoke these wings gently swayed as the models walked the runway, apart from the wings both the corsets looked exceptional as well. 
DARK ANGEL
Dark Angel was another segment which delivered. It was graceful and sexy and had many stand out looks.
This outfit looked striking. The wings definitely being the highlight of the outfit. While Taylor Hill isn't my favourite model she looked amazing in this outfit and made it look jaw droppingly good.

This look was my favourite from the segment. It was sexy yet classy and Kate Grigorieva looked amazing in it. The intricate designs on the cape only enhanced its overall look.
Sui He

This look made Martha Hunt look like a dark angel. From the corset to the wings, everything about this outfit looked wonderful. 

BRIGHT NIGHTS ANGEL
Bright Night Angel was my favourite segment of the entire show. There wasn't one outfit which I disliked, you can only imagine how hard it was for me to choose a handful of my favourites. It was a great closing segment however, I was disappointed that Jasmine Tookes did not open the show after all she was wearing the Fantasy Bra.

Irina Shayk stormed the runway in this elegant, seductive look and she was two months pregnant! 

Bella Hadid had two of the most amazing outfits during her first show! This outfit looked amazing on her and I only hope she attempts to improve her facial expressions when walking a dynamic, lively show like Victorias Secret.
Maria Borges
Josephine Skriver wore the Swarovski outfit during this year's show. I think she deserved it entirely, she looked ethereal in it and her attitude on the runway is everything VS should be looking for if they want their brand to continue to succeed. 

Many people disliked this year's fantasy bra however, I absolutely loved it. Jasmine looked gorgeous in it and it suited her so much, not to mention she is the only new angel which entirely deserved it.

 Overall the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2016 wasn't as amazing as I expected, but it was one of the most diverse shows they've had. It did deliver in certain segments and  I'm excited to see what they bring to the runway in 2017.
